Our Story
Over six years ago, Bridget and Trent Leighton were busy leading nine to five lives in Manhattan. Trent was working in a mental health clinic as a psychologist, while Bridget was withering away in a successful but unsatisfying career in corporate sales. Struggling with what to do next, a good friend suggested dog walking as a possible alternative. Throughout her life Bridget had always had a connection with animals and was never happier then when she was around them. With her “passion” in place it seemed the perfect fit.
Passionate Pet Care was born in March of 2002 with the arrival of a twelve-week-old Beagle named Galahad. Through word of mouth, the dog roster quickly filled up. That fall, Trent quit his job to join Bridget walking dogs, affording him both time and flexibility to pursue his doctorate degree. Less than a year later, they hired their first employee in order to allow for growth with their expanding clientele. Since then, they have brought on three more full and part-time walkers, all of whom share their vision and love for fostering the bond between canine and human. Not having a dog of their own, Bridget and Trent’s clients and employees quickly became family.
Over the years and without the aid of advertisements, their "one-Beagle" operation has grown into a boutique agency servicing a diverse and wonderful collection of four-legged friends. By keeping their growth slow and organic, they have been able to maintain their focus and quality of care. Walking dogs with hands, feet, and most importantly, lots of heart, many neighbors have paid them the highest compliment, often assuming that the walker is really the owner. This type of attention has produced lasting and dynamic relationships with their clients and owners; who have loyally continued to trust Passionate Pet Care with their best friends and beloved family members.
